Facelift for Men

Male Facelifts

Increasing numbers of men are opting to undergo cosmetic surgery.

There is a growing number of options for males interested in enhancing their appearance to look younger. For instance, a facelift can postpone the inevitable loss of elasticity and youthfulness that comes with aging. Facelifts, also called rhytidectomies, tighten sagging skin and smooth out wrinkles to make you look younger.

Over the last three to five years, there’s been a huge boom in men’s aesthetic surgery. Men are especially turning to facelifts, which can help invert the detrimental effects of aging and of exposure to the elements. There are several different variations of the facelift procedure that can smooth the skin of the face and neck, tighten the underlying tissues and muscle, and remove excess skin.

SO ARE YOU A CANDIDATE?

  • One might think about getting a facelift if they:
  • Have saggy jowls and neck skin.
  • possess prominent nasolabial creases (creases from the nose to the corners of the mouth).
  • Be affected by a double chin.
  • Be marked by the formation of creases just below the lower lashes.
  • are in good physical condition.
  • Please abstain from smoking.
  • Set clear aspirations for how you’d like your physical appearance to change.

THE INITIAL CONSULTATION

During your initial consultation, we will go over your medical history, personal history, family history, and the results of any previous facial surgeries you may have had. We will also answer any questions you may have about the treatment and answer any concerns you may have.

Your doctor will also assess your general health and risk factors, go over possible complications, examine and measure your face, take photographs of it for your medical records, and go over your choices for incision location, anesthesia, and outcomes.

PREPARING FOR THE PROCEDURE

  • Before undergoing a facelift, you may need to take the following precautions:
  • Diagnosis and treatment based on the results of medical tests.
  • Get on some new meds, or change up what you’re already on.
  • The recommended time to quit smoking prior to surgery is four weeks.
  • Stay away from ibuprofen and similar pain relievers.
  • Prepare for your return trip home by reserving a ride.
  • Make sure you get pre-op clearance from your primary care physician.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Facelifts are among the many outpatient procedures offered at Vilafortuny, according to Dr. Trelles. He also warns that the following might occur:

Anaesthesia

Your procedure will begin with the administration of anesthesia and continue throughout. Both intravenous sedation and general anesthesia are options; your plastic surgeon will advise you on which is best for you.

Traditional facelifts, mini facelifts, brow lifts, and neck lifts are only a few of the available options. The process of performing a facelift on a man is also facilitated by additional measures.

Male Facelift

It’s trickier for men to cover up the initial scarring of a facelift. To conceal the incisions as much as possible, they are typically made in the creases that already exist in the skin, such as behind the ear or along the side of the head. Excess skin is eliminated and underlying tissues are tightened to create a more youthful appearance. The neck and jaw line become more angular as a result.

After the new shape of the face has been sculpted, the incisions are stitched shut with sutures. Once the incisions have healed, they blend seamlessly into the hairline and the creases behind the ear.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER

Your plastic surgeon should provide written instructions for the following, in addition to answering any questions or addressing any concerns you may have after the procedure:

  • Recovery from an operation requires special attention.
  • Drug orders are placed.
  • Scheduling a follow-up visit.

Bandaging your face after surgery and inserting small tubes to drain fluid will help minimize swelling. Prescription pain relievers will be given to you to help ease any suffering you experience over the next few days. Meanwhile, recovery times differ from patient to patient, most patients can return to work after one week.

RESULTS

In the case of a facelift, the effects can be seen almost immediately. Sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 should be worn regularly to protect skin from the sun’s harmful rays.
