Straightening crooked, crowded, or spaced teeth is only one of the many orthodontic issues it can address with its custom-made, virtually undetectable plastic aligners. Over the course of therapy, the teeth and jaws are gradually moved into proper position using a series of custom-made, clear acrylic aligners. These retainers are made of clear plastic and fit securely over the teeth, earning them the nickname “invisible braces” because they are discreet to the naked eye.
The aligners are not only unnoticeable but also detachable, allowing you to enjoy all of your favorite foods and beverages while undergoing treatment. The process of oral hygiene (brushing and flossing), is simplified as a result. According to Vilafortuny’s creator, Dr. Kathrin Trelles, the system’s versatility makes it possible to treat both the front and back teeth of teenagers and adults.
A digital treatment plan outlining the exact, gradual movements of your teeth will be produced by our orthodontist and Invisalign-trained dentists. Invisalign is a series of aligners that are delivered to you every few months; each set needs to be worn for 20 to 22 hours per day for the optimum results.
With Invisalign®, a patient’s teeth are gradually and discretely realigned using a series of aligners designed specifically for them. The aligners work by gently and gradually moving teeth into place. There are no metal brackets to attach to the teeth or wires to tighten on regular basis, both of which are common sources of pain and discomfort for majority of patients. Instead, Invisalign aligners have a minimal discomfort. Our patients rarely complain about wearing them for the full 20–22 hours per day that is suggested.
Each clear aligner is part of a set, and it is recommended to wear a new aligner about once every two weeks. The length of time it takes to straighten your teeth using Invisalign will depend on how much adjustment each individual patient needs.
With its ability to treat mild to moderate crowding, Invisalign is a viable alternative for patients who are hesitant to make the long-term commitment required by traditional metal braces. Find out if Invisalign treatment is right for you with a consultation.
Your treatment’s outcome will be determined by a number of variables, including the nature of your condition and how long you need to be in treatment. To treat an underbite, for instance, we need to guide the jaws and adjust the way the lower and upper teeth touch.
