WHAT IS SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP?
It is a revolutionary method of inserting small amounts of mineral pigment -specially created for the semi-permanent makeup- into the dermal layer of the skin using an electric tool with a sterile single use needle to place pigmented granules beneath the upper layers of the skin.
IS IT A TATTOO?
No. Even if the techniques are similar, the authorised pigments are different and limited since they are used on the face. The insertion of minerals pigments is not as deep compared to a tattoo since they are targeting the upper layers of the skin.
HOW LONG WOULD A SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP LAST?
Different factors affect how long a semi-permanent makeup lasts: not only the quality of the pigments used, but also sun exposure, sun protection used as well as skin regeneration that varies from one person to another.
On an average, it lasts between 2 to 4 years, however, it can get lighter over time and correct with a simple touch up.
IS IT PAINFUL?
The sensitivity to the procedure varies from one person to another. It can cause some discomfort that disappears as soon as the procedure is finished, although, often not anywhere near the pain the person was anticipating.
Luckily, there are now many creams that can be prescribed by your doctor so the technician can use that to reduce any discomfort from the procedure.
ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATION?
Yes, there are.
We will need you doctor authorisation to process a semi-permanent make up for the following cases:
- If you have a cardiac prosthesis.
- In case of renal failure
- Diabetes
- Auto immune diseases
- Any dermatological disease
- Allergies to metals
You might have to go through a treatment prior to have a semi-permanent makeup in the following cases:
- Herpes
- Conjunctivitis
WHAT ARE THE SAFETY AND HYGIENE PROTOCOLS?
At Vilafortuny, the material used for each procedure is one-time use: sterile needles, gloves, wells and pigments are prepared in front of each client.
What are Microblading and SPMU Techniques? and what's the difference between them?
SPMU
SPMU stands for Semi-Permanent makeup which is the technique that requires a specialist tattoo machine to create certain desired aesthetics in various areas of the body.
The difference between Microblading and SPMU eyebrows is everything; from the technique, the finished look, the shading to even the healed result and the top-up process.
Microblading
Microblading is the method of Eyebrow tattooing that requires a specialist handheld blade that’s been dipped into the pigment the client is matched up with. Therefore, it is far more accessible to mimic the exact direction of the clients natural hair growth. The pigment is placed by the blade into a higher layer of the skin compared to that of machine tattooing – thus meaning the final result is less permanent.
Once the hair strokes have been etched into the skin, extra pigment is the rubbed over the brows to ensure that the skin is absorbing the colour fully into the hair stroke marks, and the ink is wiped away to reveal the initial templated shape.
This process is repeated 2-4 times over the entire brow, filling any exposed gaps each time till the perfect, natural looking eyebrow has been built. With microblading, a second appointment is needed 4-8 weeks after the initial treatment to fill any gaps that can appear during the healing process.
WOULD BE PRESENTABLE THE SAME DAY OR THE NEXT DAY?
In most cases, yes, because they are only small superficial lesions.
However, for sensitive and very sensitive skins, redness and a slight swelling can persist up to 24h.
In terms of colour, there is a loss of 20% intensity after 4 days proceeding.
BEFORE THE PROCEDURE:
Hydrate your skin and put aesthetic cream if you wish.
Avoid the following 48h before the procedure the following:
- Dyeing the concerned area
- Scrubbing or peeling
- Sun exposure
- Application of a fruit acid-based treatment cream
- Taking aspirin or anticoagulants
AFTER THE PROCEDURE:
The pigmented area should be cleaned with clean washed hands, disinfect and apply a healing cream.
For the eyeliner, cold compresses are sufficient until complete healing.
- Keep hydrated
- Avoid sun exposure, swimming pools, baths, hammams, scrubs, peelings, dyeing and discoloration.
